Sun and Snow
Because of the reflective nature of a white, snowy ground, the sunshine seems so much brighter after a blizzard. Sort of humbling, isn’t it?

The Ballerina Project
THIS is beauty. Since I watched that Kanye West video with the ballerinas dancing around to open piano sounds, I have developed a strong curiosity for dance and dancers. Likewise, my favorite scene, rather my favorite moment, in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is when Cate Blanchett points her toes to the night sky in that elegant red dress. That reflected light. Anyhow, go here to see images...

MOVEMENT AND LIGHT!
I am always searching for a way to make movement and/or sound create color. This comes as close as I have found yet. Created by british interactive designer dominic harris and his firm cinimod studio, DJ Light (DJ Luz), Lima 2010 from Cinimod Studio on Vimeo. via designboom

Olafur Eliasson is a stunner.
I never get tired of people who try to bring the outside, inside in their work. Olafur Eliasson is the king of it. The Arken Museum of Art. Your Blind Passenger, by Olafur Eliasson. This piece would be quite a world to walk through, all senses immediately magnified at the door. I want to meet this man and talk to him about his process. This is such a simple idea, but so beautifully executed! They...

roman ondák "Measuring the Universe" at the...
Thanks, designboom. “Measuring the Universe.” I love everything about this piece. The title. The implications. The inconsistency of the handwriting. The specific vs. the stranger. The black pen. The variation. The invitation. The absence. The relevance. The memory. The familial. The history of the space and it’s new current. The faith in the audience. So wonderful. Here is an...

The sun in my room today.
Something special happened with the sun in my room today. In a giant beam of soft, foggy light, it wiggled its way around Andrew’s shoes on the floor and caramelized the hardwood. It kissed the orchids and licked the walls, and held tight to my thump thumping heart.

The Nonsense Institute, again.
I just looked over the new stuff in The Nonsense Institute’s etsy shop, and I am all sorts of tickled right now. Anisa’s imagination is the biggest I’ve ever seen; she is like 500 children in one, big, lovable brain. Amazing. Keep her thriving if you still need gifts for anyone. She will create handmade work like you’ve never seen. Steer clear of Toys R Us and The Disney...

Read Rachel Braidman.
Go here. Read this. Then spend as much time as you should reading the rest. I promise it will be worthwhile. Her words get more and more sophisticated with each sentence she writes lately. I cannot wait to read the publisher credits when she starts growing into novels. Some highlights: “After my tears on the toilet, I sat on the red and blue rug before the fireplace, sipping stout. I...

Charlie Brown
One of my favorite parts of this Christmas classic. Charles Schultz was so simple with these children, yet watching the cartoons as an adult now makes me realize how layered the characters all are. Wonderful!
favorite holiday moments
Here are some small details, as so not to give anything away…..buuuut, a few of my favorite details from this holiday at work.

Usko
My parents gave us the best early Christmas present this year. He is happy, lays down like a gentleman, gives lots and lots of kisses, still has a puppy heart, plays all day long, doesn’t bark much, and fits right in. He is wearing a cone of shame because he has little stitches on his eye! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!

Twelve Chairs holiday party
It was a chilly night, but a fun one. Here are a few images from the festivities. Andrew Halchak and friends serenaded the night with outstanding music, Miggy and Roisin held down the fort in their beautiful shop, and lots of friends stopped by to say hello.

Susan Philipsz wins Turner Prize.
I got my designboom email today, and found this lovely bit of treasure news inside. Susan Philipsz was recently awarded the most prestigious art award in Britain. She uses her own voice in her installations to reinvent unnoticed spaces. This piece moved me in ways I cannot begin to tell. I wish I could stand in the space and let it run through my entire body. The art world is going in a...

Twelve Chairs Boston
I recently came across this wonderful place called Twelve Chairs in the Fort Point Area near South Station in Boston. I walked into their shop and design studio while strolling through open studios. I am so glad I did. First of all, their location is to die for, but even more, they have the most beautiful space I have seen. Lofts kill me softly. Anyhow, we got to talking and next thing I knew,...

Something about wallpaper.
Maybe this is the reason I love lace. Or maybe lace is the reason I love old wallpaper. Either way, these things are going to be combined to create my upcoming installation at Twelve Chairs Boston. Here are some good images I have found in my research.
